New Products at Stitched Simplicity!!

Well the time had finally come for me to take all of the design ideas swirling about in my head (for the past really long time) and make them happen! 

And so today, my redesigned blankets have launched in the shop...and they are exactly what I had been thinking about for so long. The border, the wide hem, everything! I am just so happy with how simple yet polished they are, and I hope you all love the new design as well! 

The hardest thing about selling handmade baby items is the amount of competition out there. So, a year or so ago I launched my new bib and burp cloth design (featuring the 2 matching fabrics), which I absolutely love and was something I worked hard to create and make my own! I really wanted to put my own mark on my blankets as well, and so these new blankets were created! 

In the shop you'll find lots of different blankets and loveys in all sorts of different fabrics. Over the next few weeks I will be adding bibs and burp cloths, so watch for those! 

I hope you love the new blanket design! It is scary to try new things with product design, but things needed to feel more "me" and inspired. Thanks for the support of my little shop!!

Scenes from the Studio

I've been sewing like crazy to get ready to re-launch the shop. I've spent hours and hours and hours up in my studio during my spring break from work (ha...a break when you have your own business...never!), and I can't wait to show you what I've been working on! 

Our Calm + Neutral Bedroom Mood Board

Come this summer, we will be downsizing into an apartment (from our townhouse) in preparation for buying a house in the city. Along with moving, I'm hoping to redo the bedroom in the process. Out with the old, put-it-together-yourself-fake-wood furniture, in with the new...if you know what I mean! I love me some Ikea, and it is perfect for a lot of things (like every piece in my sewing studio!), but I am at that stage in life and decorating where I want to start adding solid, lasts forever and ever, pieces. 

I put this little mood board together to guide my purchases. Because I am looking to add pieces that are a real investment, this room will definitely come together slowly over the next year, which is OK. I would rather wait for the perfect piece to come along and have a bit of a mismatched space in the process, than rush a purchase and end up with something that is just OK.

I am hoping to have soft colors, with lots of different textures and materials. White painted wood end tables, an upholstered bed, and a stained wood dresser. One of my favorite things I have ever heard about decorating a room is that you should buy pieces that compliment each other, but not a full matching bedroom set. Because doing so, would be like wearing a denim shirt, with denim pants, with denim shoes...because they all match.

Without further ado...here's my ideas for the bedroom! 

I am getting the lamps and mirror and little accent pieces for my birthday, so now I just have to be patient as I replace the bigger pieces of furniture as money allows. We will see how it all comes together! 

 

She Believed She Could So She Did

Here's a little inspirational, girl power printable for all the little ladies! Growing up, I went to a girl's school for 8 years. Now, almost 10 years after graduating, I'm back working at the same girl's school. So, there is definitely no shortage of the belief in the power of girls around here!

grocery list & meal planning printable

One of the things that keeps me from going crazy during the week is planning out our week's meals and grocery shopping on Sunday morning. There is just something about laying it all out and having the fridge stocked that makes cooking after work a little bit easier.

To make the chore of meal planning and grocery shopping more fun, (or prettier at least!) I created a weekly meal planning and grocery list printable to use each week. After I plan my meals and buy all of our groceries, I pop this up on the fridge for a reminder of what ingredients we have on hand and what meals we'll be eating each night.

That way, when J makes it home first from work, he can cook up dinner so it's ready when I walk through the door. Oh wait...a girl can dream!
